VARAN, which commenced passenger transportation on the Kadiköy-Pendik route in 1946, and on the Istanbul-Izmit route a short while later, has justified its place at the international and domestic transportation and tourism sector, with its existing service and technology level.

THE AGE OF AUTOMATION WITH VARAN…

VARAN was once more proud of being the FIRST at its sector in 1994, with its network technology based on the realization of the real time on-line computer system project between Istanbul and Ankara. In our day, it is now possible to make ticket sales and booking within a few minutes with the utmost swiftness and convenience.

VARAN REALIZED “OVER THE PHONE TICKET SALES” FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TURKEY IN 1995

Any person who calls any VARAN ticket sales office, is able to buy tickets immediately on his/her own credit card.

VARAN PRINCIPLES AT THE TRANSPORTATION SECTOR

VARAN, which offers the highest level of safety and comfort in the regions of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bodrum, Marmaris, Kusadasi, Antalya, Mersin, Adana, Gaziantep, Denizli, and Ayvalik, is the only company giving services at the domestic and international passenger transportation with SETRA coaches, and refreshment facilities (Boludagi, M.Kemalpasa, Afyon, Pamukova ve Sögütözü) of its own property.

Varan, which has always maintained its quality of being a pioneering company in overland transportation, initiated free shuttle service in 1960 for the first time in Turkey. Varan, the first company importing panoramic coaches of European coachwork with pullman seats, was also the first travel agency which opened the first independent coach terminal (Sögütözü / Ankara), and the first independent refreshment facility (Bolu).

The fleet of Varan, which introduced Setra coaches to Turkey for the first time in 1984, is completely constituted of these renowned coaches, selected as the coach of the year in Europe in 2002. Employment of bilingual hostesses at this sector, and double-deck coach service in overland travels have also been realised for the first time by Varan.

VARAN, which has also a special place abroad, further to its domestic passenger transportation, gives a high quality service with its international booking offices, and scheduled trips in Austria (on the Vienna, Salzburg, Bregenz, Innsbruck, Dornbirn route), and in Greece (on the Athens route); and is proud of being a renowned coach concern in EU countries also.

VARAN’S CARGO SERVICES

Varan, offering domestic cargo services also since 1979, has evidenced its achievements in this field too, with the concept of safe and swift transport. The fast growing cargo business was organized as a joint stock company within the Varan Group in 1994. In these days, VARAN KARGO will take its esteemed place in the international arena with its modern automation onset which is unique in the world.

VARAN’ S NON-STOP TRIPS

With the principle of always achieving the best in its projects for the 2000’s, VARAN is gradually extending its NON-STOP “BUSINESS LINE” services initiated in 1993. These services which have been developed in line with the increase in the number of motorways, were initially started as reciprocal trips between Ankara-Istanbul, setting off at dawn. Non-Stop services which are extended throughout the country at present, continue to offer great advantages to business people who are aware of time’s worth.

VARAN TICKETS ON THE INTERNET

Our Group companies were positioned on the internet in 1997 with the web page, www.varan.com.tr. Furthermore, we have realized a first at the overland transportation sector and initiated “ticket sales over the electronic medium”.

With this historical project, which is a first in overland transportation, you have the chance of making bookings, and buying tickets on credit cards in any part of Turkey, and even the world, over the web page in Turkish and English, by entering route, date and hour. You can now identify your travel route, date and hour, and select your seat without calling at ticket sales offices, and buy tickets on your credit card at home.

THE JOY OF A BISTRO ON VARAN…

Double deck VARAN BISTRO coaches in service since 1994, offer, besides the most advanced road safety which can be achieved through technology, a rare ambience to its guests at the lower BISTRO deck decorated as a super luxury French restaurant of 16 seats (4 x 4), with delicious à la carte menus at this special place. The BISTRO deck houses a micro wave oven, refrigerators, cooking and frying sections, coffee machines, special service personnel, and other elements which contribute to the ambience; besides an 8-channel music set, and video and TV sets which are also available to the passengers on the upper deck through earphones.

Varan Bistro coaches, similar to all the other SETRA’s, have the following features:

With ASR which prevents slipping on snow and ice; ABS which prevents sliding in sudden brakes; computer systems which communicate to the driver the changes in vehicle performance, and probable failures in five languages; and spacious ergonomic seats providing a high level bodily relaxation, VARAN BISTRO coaches provide to their guests not only comfort, but also a safe journey. Internal air is refreshed twice per minute in VARAN BISTRO coaches where internal temperature is kept constant with the computer controlled air conditioning system. Polluted air totally discharged to the outer cabin through a special filter system, is cleaned and purified from allergenic pollens.

THE MULTIMEDIA PRIVILEGE ON VARAN…

There are two television screens in the coach: one in the front, and the other in the middle section. Furthermore, there is a LCD screen in front of each seat, and an 8-channel TV broadcasting and video facility. Each passenger can choose any channel he/she wishes and benefit from the TV and music broadcast of his/her preference. This highly pleasant medium is provided with the high technology of BOSCH BLAUPUNKT. With computer control, exceeding the previously fixed speed limit of the coach is automatically prevented. All road information is communicated to the passengers on the computer system. Furthermore, information about performance and probable failures is communicated to the captain over the computer in 5 languages. With the filter system, the outside air entering the coach is completely purified from harmful gases and allergenic pollens. The special mirror layout ensures that the vehicle occupies minimum space when parking; and the double deck baggage compartment provides double space for baggage. Seat belts on each seat, provide more safety.

DELUXE COMFORT ON VARAN …

With Pullman seats on the left side of the aisle, comfort has been maximised and a “business class” travel offered. There are two television screens in the coach: one in the front, and the other in the middle section; and an 8-channel music broadcasting system with earphones in front of each seat. Each passenger can choose any channel he/she wishes and benefit from the music broadcast of his/her preference.
